SnowMunch1 is the first baby of Snowball and Munchie.

First, I think a naming explanation is necessary. When I first started buying geckos, I named each one myself. However, as the number of geckos grew, I became tired of the creative struggle and decided that the babies born in our home would have names based on a combination of their parents’ names. So, for SnowMunch1, I took “Snow” from Snowball and “Munch” from Munchie, and since this is the first baby, I added the number “1.” This means SnowMunch1 is Snowball and Munchie’s first offspring.

When a baby hatches from the incubator, it’s usually difficult to capture the moment perfectly with a phone camera, but there’s always an abundance of vitality in the newborns.

The reason I paired Snowball and Munchie was because I wanted a large Pure White Lily like Snowball, so I didn’t know what to expect in terms of a normal baby. To cut to the chase, it looks like an upgraded version of Munchie.

By the time of this post, it’s already been 8 months since hatching, so I missed out on documenting the growth process, but to put it simply, it looks very much like its mother. It has a big body and a stunning full pin stripe, which is a given. The reason I’m calling it an upgrade is that the lateral pattern has improved from a Harlequin to an extreme Harlequin level, and as if influenced by its father, the pattern around the neck has also become more pronounced. Perhaps because it’s still young, when it fires up, the contrast with the black first-phase traits gives it a more three-dimensional appearance.

Its eyebrows are also very beautiful.

It would have been nice if a drippy had come down to the pinstripe area, but it’s left clean and empty. Still, this is a gecko worth watching as it continues to grow. I’ll share a second growth update in the future.
