The second one is also a Tri Extreme Harlequin. While the pattern around the neck hasn’t developed much, the strong secondary traits on the lateral side make it clear that the dorsal pattern is Tiger.

Right after hatching, its appearance was very similar to the first one. In this particular photo, it looks almost like a rubber figurine. Speaking of hatchling photos, if you’ve been paying close attention to my blog, you might have noticed that the pictures taken at birth tend to have lower image quality. That’s because I usually take them quickly using my phone. Back in 2024, I was using an iPhone 12 Pro Max, and you can see the lower image quality, especially in low-light conditions. The lack of lighting also plays a big role. In late 2024, I upgraded to an iPhone 16 Pro Max, and the macro capabilities are amazing. The overall image quality has also improved, but since the hatchlings I’ll be photographing with the new phone will be born much later, it will take some time before those images appear on my blog.

This gecko has an even deeper brown tone, and its thick dorsal pattern is striking. As it grows, the rich base color remains unchanged, making the tangerine secondary traits stand out even more vividly.

Both lateral patterns have developed well, and the clear separation between the dorsal and lateral areas creates a strong sense of depth. Even though the tertiary traits haven’t emerged much, the rough dorsal texture—characteristic of the Barb lineage—leaves a strong impression. Surprisingly, this gecko doesn’t have any spots. It’s often said that spots have a high genetic inheritance rate, but seeing that both parents have them while this one does not makes it clear that genetic expression can vary significantly between individuals.
