The first hatchling from Bobby and Tike turned out to be a Tri-Extreme Harlequin. With its overall dark coloration and a shedding layer peeling off just at the right moment, it gives off a tough and rugged impression.

Since the mother, Tike, is a Cappuccino morph with a relatively short breeding history, this little one doesn’t seem to have inherited particularly strong hereditary traits. Cappuccino geckos have mostly been supplied from normal morphs without elaborate patterns, which is why this hatchling initially showed very little patterning from the lateral area up to the head.

As it grew, more lateral markings started to appear, but the empty area around the neck remained unchanged. As mentioned earlier, Cappuccino is still a relatively new morph, so its pattern-erasing effects aren’t fully stabilized yet. Also, the presence of spots has not diminished much. Since spots are generally less preferred, breeders usually try to eliminate them in future generations. However, given that Bobby, the father, has a lot of spots, it was inevitable that some of the offspring would inherit them.

Looking only at the dorsal side, this gecko does have an interesting pattern. The markings appear to be a mix of Tiger and Brindle patterns, though it’s difficult to distinguish clearly due to the near-Quad lateral coverage. Compared to the normal hatchlings from Bobby and Peach that I previously posted about, there are some aspects that feel lacking. However, its rich, sticky-looking coloration and the gradual emergence of third-tier traits make this little one worth keeping an eye on for future development.
